How to Get a WhatsApp Alert for Every New WooCommerce Order
To get a WhatsApp alert for every new WooCommerce order: install Order on Mobile for WooCommerce (free), subscribe to MyD Notifications, paste the license key in the Integrations tab, and in the Setup tab pick Automatic alert to my WhatsApp. From then on, every order placed in the store sends an alert with the order details to the number you set.
Why the WooCommerce email is not enough
WooCommerce already emails you when an order comes in. The problem is where that email lands: the same inbox as newsletters, invoices and everything else. Whoever runs the store from their phone sees WhatsApp first, and an order seen late is an order packed late.
Redirect the customer or alert the store?
In Order on Mobile, the question When a new order is placed… has three answers, and only one can be active:
| Option | What happens after checkout | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Redirect customer to WhatsApp | The customer is sent to WhatsApp with an order summary. The store only gets it if they hit send. | Free |
| Automatic alert to my WhatsApp | The customer stays on the standard WooCommerce thank-you page, and the alert reaches the store on its own. | Requires MyD Notifications |
| Don’t redirect | Nothing happens on WhatsApp. | Free |
The redirect works well when you want to talk to the customer right after the purchase. Its limit is that it depends on the customer: if they close WhatsApp without sending, the store never hears about it there. The automatic alert does not depend on anyone.
How to turn the alert on
- Install Order on Mobile for WooCommerce, free on WordPress.org.
- Subscribe to a MyD Notifications plan and copy the key from your dashboard.
- In the plugin, open the Integrations tab, paste the key into License Key and leave Send notifications actively checked.
- In the Setup tab, fill in the store WhatsApp Number with the country code first, in the format 5551XXXXXXXXX. That number is the one that gets the alert.
- Under When a new order is placed…, pick Automatic alert to my WhatsApp and save.
No code and no webhook to wire up.
Where the alert comes from
The alert is sent from the official MyD Notifications number, through Meta’s official API. Your store does not need a Meta account, a new number or an approved template: the number you set only receives.
What it costs
Each new order alert counts as one message on your plan.
| Plan | Messages / month | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 250 | $9/mo |
| Basic | 500 | $16/mo |
| Pro | 1,000 | $26/mo |
If you also notify the customer when the order status changes, both come out of the same plan. To estimate usage: orders per month × (1 alert + the number of statuses you notify the customer about). The plugin ships with Processing and Completed checked by default.
If the alert does not arrive
The Integrations tab has a Recent notification errors section with the last 20 errors: date, order and reason. The usual ones:
- Store number empty or missing the country code. Fix the WhatsApp Number in the Setup tab.
- Invalid key. Copy the key again from your MyD Notifications dashboard.
- Plan limit reached. Sending stops until the next billing cycle or until you change plans.
Notify the customer too
The same plan sends the customer a message every time the order status changes. The setup is in how to send WooCommerce order notifications on WhatsApp.
