WooCommerce WhatsApp Order Notifications Without Twilio

Install a free WooCommerce plugin that already talks to the official WhatsApp API, subscribe to a usage-based plan, and paste the API key into the plugin’s settings. From that point, every order status change fires the matching WhatsApp message on its own. No Twilio account to configure, no Meta Business Manager, no message template to write and get approved.

That is the short version. Here is why it matters and how the setup actually goes.

Why “where’s my order” is expensive to answer by hand

38% of “where is my order” calls happen before the driver even leaves. Staff spend about 5 minutes per order answering status questions that a message could answer instead. 1 in 6 customers will not reorder if the wait felt like silence. And WhatsApp gets opened: 98% of messages sent there get read, against roughly 20% for email.

None of that shows up as a support ticket you can point to. It shows up as staff time and customers who quietly do not come back.

How most WooCommerce WhatsApp plugins make you do the work

  • Manual send. Open the order, click “Send WhatsApp Notification” from Order Actions. Fine for ten orders a day. At fifty, someone forgets, and the message that should have gone out at “preparing” only goes out at “delivered”.
  • Bring your own API. Connect a Twilio or Meta Cloud API account, write the message templates, get them approved in Business Manager, keep the account funded and compliant. That is infrastructure you now own, on top of the store you already run.
  • WhatsApp Web automation. Some plugins simulate a logged-in WhatsApp Web session instead of using the official API. It works until Meta flags the number, and then every notification stops, including the ones already sent.

The message fires on the order status, not on you

MyD Notifications sends through the official Meta Business API and triggers on the order’s own status: confirmed, preparing, out for delivery, delivered. The four messages are already written, so you are not building a template, you are turning on a switch. Delivery to the customer’s WhatsApp happens in under 4 seconds of the status changing.

Setting it up without leaving WooCommerce

If you already run WooCommerce, the plugin that plugs into it is Order on Mobile for WooCommerce, free on WordPress.org. (MyD Notifications also works with MyD Delivery, but that plugin replaces WooCommerce instead of sitting on top of it, so it is a different setup for a different store.)

  1. Install Order on Mobile for WooCommerce if you do not already have it.
  2. Subscribe to a MyD Notifications plan and copy the API key from your dashboard.
  3. Paste the key into the plugin’s Notifications settings and activate it.

That is the whole setup. No code, no webhook to wire up yourself.

What it costs

Plan Messages / month Price
Starter 250 $9/mo
Basic 500 $16/mo
Pro 1,000 $26/mo

Each status update counts as one message, so an order that goes through all four stages uses four. Turn off the statuses you do not need to keep usage down. The bill scales with how many orders you actually notify, not with how many plugins you have installed.

Do I need a WhatsApp Business account or a Meta developer setup?

No. Messages go out from MyD’s own WhatsApp number over the official Meta Business API. You need the API key from your dashboard, nothing on the WhatsApp or Meta side.

Does this work with plugins other than MyD Delivery?

Yes. MyD Notifications works with both MyD Delivery and Order on Mobile for WooCommerce, and both are free on WordPress.org.
